Caderno 2, 1986

Essa foto (cortesia do meu amigo e colega de Oeste, Eugênio Goussinski) mostra o felizardo grupo que criou o Caderno 2, o caderno cultural do jornal O Estado de São Paulo. O caderno foi lançado no dia 4 de abril de 1986.

O alto astral registrado nessa foto é autêntico. Foram meses de muita criatividade e realizações. A gente podia fazer basicamente o que quisesse. No meu caso, atuei como editor de televisão e colunista de ecologia - coluna que gerou um incrível movimento nacional pelo fim da caça à baleia. Era um tempo pré-internet, quando a grande imprensa tinha muito mais poder.

Essa foto acima reuniu toda a equipe que criou o Caderno 2. Eu estou na fila de trás, e ainda tinha cabelo. Alguns nomes eu não me lembro. Estão na foto Alberto Villas, Libero Malavoglia, Marco Antonio Lacerda, Moacir Amâncio, Vivien Lando, Luis Fernando Emediato, Rene Decol, Ricardo Soares, Juvenal Pereira, Luisa de Oliveira, Rosangela Petta, Jean-Michel Gauvin, Caio Fernando Abreu e Lucia Costa.

Alguns se foram, outros não sei onde estão. Essa foto mostra um raro momento de magia criativa na imprensa brasileira. O Caderno 2 no seu início foi muito ousado. Em poucos meses caiu na vala do convencional. É assim que as coisas costumam acontecer no Brasil, com raras exceções.

Todos nessa foto foram grandes companheiros de aventura. Sou grato pelos bons momentos e pelas muitas risadas que demos nesses divertidos meses de Caderno 2.

This photo (courtesy of my friend and colleague from Oeste, Eugênio Goussinski) shows the lucky group that created Caderno 2, the cultural section of the newspaper O Estado de São Paulo. The section was launched on April 4, 1986.

The high spirits captured in this photo are authentic. These were months of great creativity and achievements. We could basically do whatever we wanted. In my case, I worked as a television editor and ecology columnist - a column that generated an incredible national movement to end whaling. It was a time before the internet, when the mainstream media had much more power.

This photo above brings together the entire team that created Caderno 2. I'm in the back row, and I still had hair. I don't remember some of the names. Some are gone, others I don't know where they are. This photo shows a rare moment of creative magic in the Brazilian press. Caderno 2 was very bold in its early days. Within a few months it fell into the trap of conventionalism. That's how things usually happen in Brazil, with rare exceptions.

Everyone in this photo was a great companion on this adventure. I'm grateful for the good times and the many laughs we had during these fun months of Caderno 2.
