Emily está há três anos transmitindo sua vida através da plataforma Twitch. Cada detalhe, seu sono, seus passeios com o cão Panda pelas ruas de Austin, no Texas, suas refeições, suas sessões de game - tudo menos, claro, suas idas ao banheiro. Ela não revela seu sobrenome nem as imagens de sua vizinhança.

Conheci a história de Emily através de uma reportagem do jornal Washington Post. Sua falta de privacidade é seu modo de vida. Quanto mais seguidores, mais dinheiro ela ganha. É "vida fácil"? Depende do seu ponto de vista. Sendo vigiada 24 horas por dia, Emily vive uma pressão constante, o que de vez em quando a leva a ter períodos de depressão.

Escrevi sobre Emily para a Oeste desta semana. Tentei uma entrevista com ela, que não topou. Escrevi esse artigo com entusiasmo por causa profundidade dessa experiência. E sobre o quanto ela diz sobre o momento que estamos vivendo.

Quem procurar no artigo qualquer menção a posicionamento político e cobrança ideológica, não vai encontrar. A vida é mais rica que isso.

Emily and the life as a whole

Emily has been broadcasting her life on Twitch for three years. Every detail, her sleep, her walks with her dog Panda through the streets of Austin, Texas, her meals, her gaming sessions - everything except, of course, her trips to the bathroom. She doesn't reveal her last name or pictures of her neighborhood.

I learned about Emily's story through a report in the Washington Post. Her lack of privacy is her way of life. The more followers she has, the more money she makes. Is it an "easy life"? It depends on your point of view. Being watched 24 hours a day, Emily lives under constant pressure, which occasionally leads her to have periods of depression.

I wrote about Emily for this week's Oeste. I tried to interview her, but it didn't work out. I wrote this article with enthusiasm because of the depth of this experience. And because of how much it says about the moment we are living in.

If you look for any mention of political positioning or ideological pressure in the article, you won't find it. Life is richer than that.
