On August 13, 2015, I launched my first book in English in Kindle format for sale on Amazon. The book was an episode guide and encyclopedic material titled "Open Channel D: The Man From UNCLE Affair." It paid tribute to my favorite TV series during my teenage years in the 1960s.
Despite the challenges in promoting it, the book sold very well, especially in the US and the UK. Copies were also sold in Australia, Japan, and other countries. For a while, I let the book go a bit unnoticed due to other releases and my work as a journalist.
But now, I’m back to promoting Open Channel D with a new campaign. The series is a favorite among the older generation (like me), but the name has become familiar to newer generations through the film directed by Guy Ritchie, released in 2015, with Henry Cavill and Armie Hammer in the lead roles. Despite being highly praised for its quality, the film unfortunately had very little to do with the mythology of the series.
It’s also unfortunate that the original series (1964-1968), starring Robert Vaughn and David McCallum, is not available on any streaming platform. Until that day comes, you can learn everything about The Man From UNCLE—the series and the movie—by clicking here.
